Isle of Man at Farnborough International Airshow
The Isle of Man aerospace cluster will showcase its design and manufacturing solutions at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2010.
Established in 2006, the Isle of Man aerospace cluster provides a framework for facilitating collaboration between the Island’s high-tech and aerospace companies, offering comprehensive and cost-effective solutions for aerospace manufacture. Members of the cluster have been involved in the manufacture of the largest passenger airliner in the world, the Airbus A380, and Boeing’s forthcoming new airliner, the Dreamliner 787. The cluster is also working on the Joint Strike Fighter, Eurofighter Typhoon, Airbus A400M military transporter and Astute Submarine programmes.
Adrian Moore, Business Development Manager for Manufacturing, Department of Economic Development, commented ahead of the event:
“Farnborough International Air Show is a valuable platform from which to showcase the Isle of Man Aerospace cluster. Over the last five years, the Gross Domestic Product of the engineering and manufacturing sector on the Isle of Man has grown by nearly 50% and this growth has been driven by the success of our aerospace sector. The Farnborough Air Show will allow the Isle of Man to develop its commercial relationships, and meet with potential new customers.”
